Samsung has recently dominated the foldable phone industry. Samsung has sold millions of foldable smartphones worldwide with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Even though the design of foldable devices has improved year after year, Samsung has had no big competitors in the foldable smartphone industry. According to a patent, the business is now working on a piece of multi-folding electrical equipment.
Samsung may be working on a “Galaxy Z Flip & Slide,” based on a patent filed on March 10, 2022. As the name indicates, the patent describes a smartphone design that combines a flip design with a sliding mechanism. The Galaxy Z Flip 3, for example, features a hinge in the center that allows users to fold two solid half of the smartphone vertically.
The patent takes this idea to the next level by including a sliding mechanism in each side that expands into a display. To put it another way, the gadget unfolds first and then expands farther thanks to a sliding mechanism.
As previously stated on Let’s Go Digital, “The phone is twice as long when completely unfurled as the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The display elements can also be folded in such a way that the user gets both an upright and a landscape screen as a result of the unusual structure.”
The gadget resembles two Samsung Galaxy Z Flips placed side by side when fully unfurled. To accomplish the flexibility that this design demands, Samsung may have to improve on its Flex OLED panels, which were shown off last year.
It’s worth noting, though, that corporations like Samsung submit hundreds of patents, not all of which make it to final manufacturing. As a result, it’s unclear whether Samsung will release the Galaxy Z Flip & Slide smartphone.
There have been rumors that the fourth generation of the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold will be released later this year. These smartphones are expected to outperform their predecessors in durability and design. Keep an eye out for more tech news.
